What you'll see on MS Teams when we talk

Hi, I’m Becky Rebecca.

[ she/her ]

You might know me from all the meetups I hosted around Chicago, or the mentorships and guest-judging I helped out with, or maybe the museum conferences I’ve spoken at.

I’m energized by creating connections, whether with people IRL or in interactive Figma prototypes. In my current role I get to do both – what a dream!

Personal Statement

Throughout my career, I’ve worked organizations ranging in size from small startups to Fortune 500 companies, creating memorable experiences for users and generating positive value for the business.

Product design goes so for beyond “make things pretty” – as designers, we have the responsibility of positively shaping the product experience, solving problems for both the business and the user. Add on industry best practices, personal biases, client relations, internal politics, and that’s a lot to juggle!

The best product designers (me) can effortlessly balance these inputs, using primary sources (and a journalism degree) to prioritize requests and create the best possible outcome.

And I don’t stop once the code has been shipped. Is the product working? Were our assumptions correct? No way to know until we talk to users. In an ideal scenario, I love to conduct a full evaluation: interviews, heuristic analyses, usability testing, and other methodologies to make sure our solution solves the problems we set out to solve.

The final step in the product journey is teaching others. I want to unlock a design team’s potential, nudging team members in the right direction and giving them the space to learn for themselves.
